Dasavadaram

One man show by Dr. Aandavar kamal hassan....sorry!!!!!! ten man show by Dr.kamal. Hollywood style screenplay without bothering about story, the movie is extremely mind boggling. The comedy touch by the dialog writer Dr. Kamal is brilliant. The crew has tried to be perfect in each shot. Birds (crows) flying in the climax fight is beautiful n has made lot of sense. Pattabhi is rockin thruout the film with his english, i loved the way he tells "S"(yes). Camera work n graphics are much better than indian movies(but not up to the par with Hollywood). Tons n tons of improvement in ravikumar's direction(Director dharani's touch). Yea! he should have learnt lot of things from aandavar also. It is very difficult to say who is the best performer, of course kamal... but which kamal is the best? Hard to find. A 3 hour movie with no duet is really new to indian movies with big budgets. Thanks to producer for allowing director to do such experiment in this mighty project. New tamil n sanskrit words are in the script. Asin was good in actin but her characterization is bitter. Mallika is "ass"usual "pro"fessional in her own way of acting. Too many things in one movie like biowar, God, chaos theory, Tsunami, sand loot.Though amazing and marvelous effort, i am not sure will indians be able to digest :( (Anbae sivamae flop agirukku...). Thoush dasavadharam is gr8 in many aspects, kamal's best is hey ram even now. Let me see this 10 more times let you know his best has changed or not.

Read this. U'll bcome a kamal fan......
INDIAN:
Many of u might have observed this too.
Senapathy { Indian Thatha } tells manisha koirala that he sacrificed his Moustache for the sake of his baby boy Chandru as it used to hurt him while kissing.
In the last scene, after killing Chandru, Senapathy calls up the Police from some unknown foreign location. Here, he is dressed in full suite and very interestingly, he is seen to sport a moustache.-- a very subtle piece of direction . { Of course , the director was Shankar, but we all know how K's intelligence catches on the other crew around him.
Senapathy being a freedom fighter names his kids as Chandra Bose and Kasturi, in respect of Netaji Subash and Kastur Bai Gandhi.
SCENE IN THE HOSPITAL where Koundamani is admitted. Nedumudi Venu { CBI officer} comes there and says " Chandrabose, come with me to the commisioner's office".
KAMAL --- " Commisionera enakku nalla theriyum ...."
CBI ---- " That does not matter... just come with me"
Now, Kamal's face changes from expression of "False pride" to "nosecut and shame".
HeyRam
Kamal is making his plans to kill Gandhi in his private room , he is welding something , wearing a cooling glass. He gets a telegram saying - finish off Gandhi in the next few weeks.
At that time, Iyengaar people come on the road singing THIRUPPAVAI bhajans. Usually, this happens in Margazhi month { December 15 to Jan 14 }
So , markazhi + next few weeks = January 30 th = Gandhi's death
A perfect correlation of timings.
In HEY RAM, RECOLLECT the scene where Kamal half heartedly agrees to go and see Vasundara das . As the car enters the agraharam { Brahmin households near the temple } , Kamal sees the temple elephant with the Thirunamam on its forehead.
In a flash , his mind goes back to the Calcutta riots where he would have seen an elephant with its mahout { Yaanaippagan } dead. The elephant would be deserted , ready to go on a rampage with nobody to control, nobody to guide , nobody to take it to where it belonged . Kamal would have been in exactly the same state after his wife's brutal death and would have gone on a killing spree.
Then , immediately, his mind comes back to the present, and he again stares at the temple elephant , which has been "Iyengarised" by the temple authorities.
A mysterious mixture of expressions on Kamal's face.
When first time saket ram meet abyankar... they both tell Abivadhaye...which is a ritual in that religion to introduce oneselve.
Moreover, when he gets sanyasam, after dipping in the holy river, he cuts his holy thread and also his Arnakayaru, which is also tied in him from his birth.
Black and white for current and color for past indicates Gandhi brought color this is further reinstated toward the end when we see Gandhiji's painting in the wall and when the window is opened, light comes in - Gandhiji showed us the light
Nasser and the riots give an idea that violence was there when Gandhiji was there as well as at the current day - Nasser is just trying to do his duty to pacify the riots while Saket Ram the old man dies, he shows a helpless face - trying to say that similarly Gandhi also tried his best but invariably lives were taken away. If Nasser was the cause for Saket Ram's death then Gandhi is the cause for the other deaths during pre-independence partition time. Kamal again proves he is a great director.
His allegory that a blind girl helpless is amidst all those violent killings is a representation for innocent people amidst cruel blood thirsty individuals such as himself who killed for a cause but still can see the pain and suffering in spite of the obvious. So in short is tooth for tooth and eye
During the killing of Rani Mukherjee pyrotechnics were used - a technical stand point equal to its english counterparts Saving Private Ryan/Band of brothers etc... where similar technics were used - blood oozing scene for instance.
Also during the recollection of her killing he juxtaposes a lizard which struggles around in blood - which symbolizes a species that is carnivorous and quite a killer for filling its stomach still does not like being pushed in a pool of blood. Its way too intelligent to even explain in words.
The exchange of ideas of Atul Kulkarni and his second wife Vasundara Das is a exchange of dialogue between the good and the evil(remember Atul says it is not wrong if you think in the hunter's angle and not in the hunted's angle) - where his one side of the brain vouches to be a Gandhian while the other to be a Hitler - which is obviously also juxtaposed in another scene where his mind oscillates between a Hitler's photo, a Gandhi's photo and to balance it a hindu Goddess's photo - between whats good, whats bad and whats right! (Brilliant typical of a legendary director at work)
When Atul Kulkarni passes on the gun to Saket Ram, so does he pass a hatred
This hatred is so strong that it preempts Vasundhara's element of good nature which could have easily gotten into Saket Ram but he juxtaposes the anger superseding his wife's good moral values by showing a violent love making scene where he tames the good over the evil. He again symbolically represents a heavy duty gun being used for target practice that his mind thinks but his body merely makes love.or eye the right thing? - The allegoric metaphor of the poor little blind girl says it all.
Gandhi is shown to have a light sense of humor and down to Earth. That coupled with the fact that Shah Rukh Khan (Amjed)' dialogue exchanges stating we can all be brothers in his usual bubly manner tells us that both are light humored people and are taking the bigger issues very easily and in a very intellectual and sensible manner. He gets a feeling his friend's death would serve a cause if Gandhi is let go. He becomes a Gandhian eventually. These are thoughts that slowly creeps into the audience's head while watching - another genius directorial step - and Kubrick and co are the ones who can easily do such feats.

Now, thats a very simple thing, but a more sensible , affectionate and natural way of recognising someone close to u. Compare that with "non sense" types of cinematic things eg: Family song , Family story , "paal paayaasam" { Refer to movie Paalum Pazhamum } , Iduppu macham etc etc.

and the climax ends on a pournami.
When Abirami escapes, she uses a hacksaw blade to cut down the chain.Once Kamal comes in he realizes that Abirami has escaped and he immediately takes out the hacksaw from the ground and touches his cheeks with that.
This is to identify how much heat is still left in the blade...if the blade is hot then she might not have gone for a longer distance...t
The workers start digging very fast. Kamal says " HEY, Medhuva ...."
Worker says " Saar , edaavadhu PORUL thenpatta , niruthiduvom"
Kamal says " Inga PORUL eduvum irukkaadhu ...... Po .... " { He is about to say Ponam thaan irukkum} , but just holds back without completing the statement.
Kamal uses a Apple laptob.
It was shown clearly in Hotel room.
Later when the finger with chilli images were compared n the same laptop. Remeber the operating system is Mac OS X. He didn't use any windows product there.

unless you prove the suspect guilty, one cannot rule him/her to be the culprit..
KURUDIPPUNAL
Of the 2 spies sent by Arjun and Kamal, the first commits suicide. Kamal and Arjun see his dead body in the mortuary. The doctor says " Heavy dose of cyanide poisoning". Arjun places his left hand near the dead man's face and starts feeling sad because both the spies were very close to Arjun.
Kamal brings his hand close to Arjun's hand and everyone expects that he will say some consoling words to Arjun. But, Kamal sees the watch on Arjun's hand and immediately asks " Trichy train ethana manikku ? " .{ As per the spy's info, some important terrorist would be boarding that particular train.

Kamal wants to meet Dhanush (V.M.C Haneefa) so he comes to Dhanush's house and tells that watchman that he wants to meet Dhanush.The watchman could not recognize Kamal initially.He sees the time in his watch and he immediatly starts fighting with Kamal by asking Oh Neeya ?

When Kamal comes back home in the middle of the night after not being able to trace Nasser's hide out , he comes and takes a shower bath.
We can notice that he is covered with dirt and filth from head to toe. That is an indirect portrayal that he has betrayed his Nation and a true friend Arjun for his personal reasons.
So, he washes the dirt , becomes clean and the very next day , sets out fearlessly to kill Nasser and company.
A simple, subtle touch ....

Sethupathy {kamal} and Srividya argue about the name to be given to their kid.
Kamal says APPADURAI {his dad's name }
Srividya says Muthukkaruppan {Her dad's name}
Shortly after this , Kamal is killed . Srividya escapes with one baby.
And after 25 years, the movie comes to the present time , we are introduced to dwarf Kamal and not surprisingly, Srividya has fulfilled her dead husband's wish by naming her son as APPADURAI.
Before the murder of Jayashankar....Raja kamal will be trying to enter in the same manner as what Appu Kamal did.He will pull out the rope which is tied to a big wood block at the other end.
Janakaraj and Shivaji comes to that place,they will start laughing and say to Kamal "Hands Up".Kamal leaves the rope and the wooden block hits both Janakaraj and Shivaji...and Kamal enters in.
After this there will be two scenes where Janakaraj says to Kamal "Hands up"...one inside Jaishankar's house at the stair case,one where Appu Kamal rescues Raja from police...if you notice in both the scenes after saying "Hands Up" Janakaraj immediately looks up..
Just to ensure that there is no wooden block that will fall on them.

When Nandu kills manisha and sets fire to her body... he comes out of the room, where vijay see him..
Immdly you can see the Alarm goes on and water falls out of the celing.
First, my friends didnt understand this and was askng why water is shown unnecessarily.
But , in star hotels , they have automatic alarms which detects fire or smoke and immdly water showers down.
This is one more minute detail which was presented in the film.

When they all meet at a function... where suddenly simran enters... and he gossips seperately with simran and ramya...
when he's back ... oorvasi will ask him... " En Unga vai konala irukku "..
For that kamal will reply ... " Sariya shave pannale...OPTICAL ILLUSION "..
But if u watch clearly...Kamal's French Beard will not be perfect in that scene..
so , its not only the dialogue, even the beard had been taken care to coorelate with the dialogue.
The scene where Kamal, Sreeman and 'Yoogi' Sethu take the dead body out of the room and take it in the corridor.. They'll be trying to put the dead body in the laundry vent so that Jayaram and Ramesh Arvind waiting in the ground floor can pick it up..
While Kamal, Sreeman and Sethu take the dead body in the corridor, suddenly a couple will come by lift which will be near the laundry vent.. All the three will sit for a moment on seeing them.. At that time, Kamal will be whistling the tune of "Sorgam enbathu namakku" song from Nammavar.. If U note keenly, when Kamal is whistling this tune, Sethu next to him will be wiping the floor.

A song sequence...the beauty of this song is that even if u dont watch the full film and watch the song u can understand about what the film is......the song is PARTHA VIZHI PARTHA PADI...........this song starts with abirami crossing kamal in temple.....he will go behind her.......he wil say a dialogue that '''ITHU ABIRAMIYA?'''''...........the visual will poetically say that """"YA SHE IS YOUR ABIRAMI"""""...........
1..his head hits on a bell which indicates that she is abirami.
2..his hand hits on a hand board which will rotate and point out in the direction of the her which is also a indication.
3.. A cloth will fly in air showing sun light on kamal,,,,showing that his darkness is removed..
4..when he stands in queue,the security will say stand in line by showing his hand towards her...he takes it as that he says she is the one whom you are searching for.
5..when he stands before her to recieve laddu from her she will say wait for a minute with her hand...it shows lord abirami is blessing him in the form of her..
only becaus of these reasons he is stubborn that she is abirami...........
MAHANADHI
The story tells us about the ups and downs in a man's life and equates it with how a river flows thru mountains and plains , has floods and droughts , sometimes flows out of course and finally becomes calm and joins the sea.
So, all characters in the movie , who are shown as good natured people have names of rivers.

when both the two children go to the central jail to meet their father to get some help for their ailing grandmother.....they first go and ask a constable with a gun to let them in....in that scene the little boy will be highly tempted to touch the gun and hold it...if u note carefully...that is a subtle example to how young minds are tempted towards guns.
KAMALHASSAN is a "mahanadhi " , when compared to the small ponds and drainage gutters around him.

notices and stares and then his son comes and apologises ...
but everything was handled at the background, with no dialogues .

4..when he stands in queue,the security will say stand in line by showing his hand towards her...he takes it as that he says she is the one whom you are searching for.
5..when he stands before her to recieve laddu from her she will say wait for a minute with her hand...it shows lord abirami is blessing him in the form of her..
only becaus of these reasons he is stubborn that she is abirami...........

KAMALHASSAN is a "mahanadhi " , when compared to the small ponds and drainage gutters around him.

Kamal brings in some workers to dig out the ground where he strongly suspects that Prakash Raj's daughter has been buried by her murderers.The workers start digging very fast. Kamal says " HEY, Medhuva ...."
Worker says " Saar , edaavadhu PORUL thenpatta , niruthiduvom"
Kamal says " Inga PORUL eduvum irukkaadhu ...... Po .... " { He is about to say Ponam thaan irukkum} , but just holds back without completing the statement.
Kamal uses a Apple laptob.
It was shown clearly in Hotel room.
Later when the finger with chilli images were compared n the same laptop. Remeber the operating system is Mac OS X. He didn't use any windows product there.

Of the 2 spies sent by Arjun and Kamal, the first commits suicide. Kamal and Arjun see his dead body in the mortuary. The doctor says " Heavy dose of cyanide poisoning". Arjun places his left hand near the dead man's face and starts feeling sad because both the spies were very close to Arjun.
Kamal brings his hand close to Arjun's hand and everyone expects that he will say some consoling words to Arjun. But, Kamal sees the watch on Arjun's hand and immediately asks " Trichy train ethana manikku ? " .{ As per the spy's info, some important terrorist would be boarding that particular train.

Kamal wants to meet Dhanush (V.M.C Haneefa) so he comes to Dhanush's house and tells that watchman that he wants to meet Dhanush.The watchman could not recognize Kamal initially.He sees the time in his watch and he immediatly starts fighting with Kamal by asking Oh Neeya ?

When Kamal comes back home in the middle of the night after not being able to trace Nasser's hide out , he comes and takes a shower bath.
We can notice that he is covered with dirt and filth from head to toe. That is an indirect portrayal that he has betrayed his Nation and a true friend Arjun for his personal reasons.
So, he washes the dirt , becomes clean and the very next day , sets out fearlessly to kill Nasser and company.
A simple, subtle touch ....

Sethupathy {kamal} and Srividya argue about the name to be given to their kid.
Kamal says APPADURAI {his dad's name }
Srividya says Muthukkaruppan {Her dad's name}
Shortly after this , Kamal is killed . Srividya escapes with one baby.
And after 25 years, the movie comes to the present time , we are introduced to dwarf Kamal and not surprisingly, Srividya has fulfilled her dead husband's wish by naming her son as APPADURAI.
Before the murder of Jayashankar....Raja kamal will be trying to enter in the same manner as what Appu Kamal did.He will pull out the rope which is tied to a big wood block at the other end.
Janakaraj and Shivaji comes to that place,they will start laughing and say to Kamal "Hands Up".Kamal leaves the rope and the wooden block hits both Janakaraj and Shivaji...and Kamal enters in.
After this there will be two scenes where Janakaraj says to Kamal "Hands up"...one inside Jaishankar's house at the stair case,one where Appu Kamal rescues Raja from police...if you notice in both the scenes after saying "Hands Up" Janakaraj immediately looks up..
Just to ensure that there is no wooden block that will fall on them.
Aalavandan
When Nandu kills manisha and sets fire to her body... he comes out of the room, where vijay see him..
Immdly you can see the Alarm goes on and water falls out of the celing.
First, my friends didnt understand this and was askng why water is shown unnecessarily.
But , in star hotels , they have automatic alarms which detects fire or smoke and immdly water showers down.
This is one more minute detail which was presented in the film.
Panchathanthiram
When they all meet at a function... where suddenly simran enters... and he gossips seperately with simran and ramya...
when he's back ... oorvasi will ask him... " En Unga vai konala irukku "..
For that kamal will reply ... " Sariya shave pannale...OPTICAL ILLUSION "..
But if u watch clearly...Kamal's French Beard will not be perfect in that scene..
so , its not only the dialogue, even the beard had been taken care to coorelate with the dialogue.
The scene where Kamal, Sreeman and 'Yoogi' Sethu take the dead body out of the room and take it in the corridor.. They'll be trying to put the dead body in the laundry vent so that Jayaram and Ramesh Arvind waiting in the ground floor can pick it up..
While Kamal, Sreeman and Sethu take the dead body in the corridor, suddenly a couple will come by lift which will be near the laundry vent.. All the three will sit for a moment on seeing them.. At that time, Kamal will be whistling the tune of "Sorgam enbathu namakku" song from Nammavar.. If U note keenly, when Kamal is whistling this tune, Sethu next to him will be wiping the floor.

Vijay and Seteven Spielberg
The great actor of all times Dr. Ilaya thalapathi vijay got the tamil remake rights of speilberg's "Catch me if u can". Director perarasu is directing the movie in tamil. Music by srikanth deva. The movie title is "chicago" tag is "ambalaya irundha pudichu paar".
Manasa thethikoonga.... padam arambikka pogudhu.........
The movie starts in palayam kottai jail. A man with cargo pant and red shirt was standing showing his back to the audience. The beats slowly getting faster and the legs that belongs to cargo pant started to move and then comes the lyrics "Chicago.... Chicago... Chicagoooooooo........ Cococola brown colour da... enga akka ponnum adhey colouru da....." the man turns and shows his face to the audience.No one wud have expected such a twist. It was vijay.he dances sooooooooo well for that song.
The song ends and then comes the villain mr.kocha who is dhadha of palayamkottai.
kocha: Cicago... enna da ooru pera vechukittu suthara? yaru da unakku andha peyar vechadhu?
The baground music(copied from terminator) is playin and a man entering the screen and punches kocha's face. His muscular arms was pan in closeup and the man takes off his hand .He was none other than director perarasu. He starts delivering the dialogues. "nan dhan da avanukku andha per vechaen".
Kocha: Nee yaru da?.... Perarasu: Yenna pathu tamil natula yaru nu keta mudhal aal nee dhaan.
kocha: Avana na nee!!!!! Aala vidungada... inimael indha jailku mokka dhadha nee dhan.
and he escapes with serious ear injury after hearing both vijay and perarasu's dialogues. But pity audience can't.
Our great hero inspite of lacking any super powers escapes from the jail by jumping across a 40 feet wall. Around 100 police men were with guns in all his sides. 360degree camera rotation. chicago's eyes in close up. The chief police officer sunderrajan says "Chicago.. Nee inimalu thapikka mudiyadhu. nalla matikitta.. pesama surrender agidu". Vijay refused to oblige and tryin to escape from that policemen's ring formation. sunder says "Fire".. bullets from the gun starts to fire but none of them hits vijay. but all the police men were dead within seconds because the bullet from one police man pierces other's head. so all are dead in minutes and sunder fires a bullet. it hits vijay shoulder(Thank god). he fell into kuvam(how can kuvam in palayamkottai?...... never mind)and escapes.
Heroine Asin's character name is kuruvamma a cheri girl. she live near kuvam and saves vijay. Love is to be building infront of them. When he touches kuruvamma's hand a love song begins in malaysia which another copied song from BSB. Vijay in violet pant and pink T shirt. Asin in violet skirt and pink top. The song again ends in kuvam. He again injures cheari rowdies with his action and words. Asin asks who r u? how come u get such a strength?tell me or not tell me who r u?
vijay replied: tellraen.....
The flash back begins in a press where he is a great kalla nottu vyabari and his atahi ponnu was trisha... They lovifyin each other and another love song in dubai... This was pure dapanguthu and not copied one but the costumes were. The song ends and police surrounds him. he escaped and said mudinja enna pudi... In that escape sequence he tried to imitate DiCaprio but ended up worse than Capri o's shit. Trisha takes the bullet which was fired at chicago and dies there. Audience were about to die.....

The next part is full of theft and escape sequences , fights and dapanguthu in round robin.
Blood shead and vomiting all over the theaters in the climax scene. Vijay kills the police who shot trisha dead and surrendered to police.He was sentenced life term in jail from where he has escaped and reached kuruvamma. The movie ends displaying "A Perarasu fim" tag.........
